Soft Pretzels

Have an urge for soft pretzel but don’t feel like going out and don’t have any yeast in the house well lo and behold a recipe that does not require yeast. After searching the web for yeast-less soft pretzels, I found one with good ratings and that seem to have ingredients that would make good pretzels. I didn’t salt my pretzels but they turned out good nonetheless. Also, unlike the original recipe I used bread flour instead of whole wheat flour along with the all purpose flour. The pretzels were soft and have a little sweetness to them. I am very satisfied with this recipe. You guys should give it a try too if you like pretzels:)

 Ingredients (Adapted from Allrecipes.com):
  • 1/3 cp baking soda
  • 5 cps water
  • 1 ½ cps all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cps bread flour
  • 1 cp buttermilk
  • ¼ cp honey
Instructions:
  1. Dissolve baking soda in water in a non-aluminum pot. Bring water to a boil and then remove from the heat.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Sift all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  4. Stir in honey and buttermilk.
  5. Knead dough to form a firm dough.
  6. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces and roll them into classic pretzel shape.
  7. Dip uncooked pretzels in baking soda mixture and place them on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
